Embryo Culture to Blastocyst

The embryo culture during the five following days to the fertilization, permits us to carry out a greater selection on the embryos that are going to transfer al uterus. This is thus, because some embryos block its division in the third day of development. With this technique we assure that the embryos transfered have surpassed this blockade, so we raise the embryo implantation rate, and therefore the pregnancy rate.

An elevated number of embryos are required, because not all of them arrive to be Blastocysts, and not of all them have good quality. So, if we have very few embryos, the embryo transfer must be done in day 2 or 3.

16-20 hours embryo, after fecundation (Day 1)

emb_4_cel Four cells embryo. 48 hours after fecundation (Day 2)

emb_8_cel Eightr cells embryo. 72 hours after fecundation (Day 3)

emb_comp 80 hours embryo compacting (Day 3)

emb_blast_ex 120 hours embryo. Blastocyst (Day 5)
