Toisin kuin perinteisess\u00e4 IVF:ss\u00e4, jossa munasolu sekoitetaan siitti\u00f6iden kanssa laboratoriossa, jotta hedelm\u00f6ittyminen tapahtuisi spontaanisti, ICSI:ss\u00e4 siitti\u00f6 vied\u00e4\u00e4n suoraan munasoluun eritt\u00e4in kontrolloidun ja tarkan prosessin, niin sanotun sytoplasmasis\u00e4isen mikroinjektion, avulla. Kun follikkelit saavuttavat sopivan koon, tehd\u00e4\u00e4n follikkelipunktio, joka on minimaalisesti invasiivinen toimenpide, jolla munasolut otetaan talteen. N\u00e4m\u00e4 munasolut ker\u00e4t\u00e4\u00e4n laboratoriossa k\u00e4sitelt\u00e4viksi.<\/p><p><strong>2.<\/strong><strong>Munasolujen poistaminen<\/strong> Otettuja munasoluja ymp\u00e4r\u00f6i solukerros, joka on poistettava munasolujen kypsyyden arvioimiseksi. T\u00e4t\u00e4 ymp\u00e4r\u00f6ivien solujen poistoprosessia kutsutaan &#8221;denudaatioksi&#8221;. Vain ne munasolut, jotka ovat saavuttaneet metafaasi II -vaiheen, eli noin 80 prosenttia, soveltuvat siitti\u00f6iden mikroinjektioon.<\/p><p><strong>3.Siitti\u00f6iden mikroinjektio (ICSI)<\/strong> ICSI-menetelm\u00e4 suoritetaan k\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4 erikoistunutta mikromanipulaattoria, jossa on k\u00e4\u00e4nteismikroskooppi, jonka avulla munasoluja ja siitti\u00f6it\u00e4 voidaan tarkastella 400-kertaisella suurennoksella. Mikromanipulaattorivarren avulla munasolua pidet\u00e4\u00e4n varovasti kiinni, kun valittu siitti\u00f6 vied\u00e4\u00e4n suoraan munasolun sytoplasmaan toisen mikroinjektorivarren avulla.
