follikels aan. Dit betekent dat we meer eicellen kunnen verkrijgen dan bij een normale menstruatiecyclus, wat de kans op zwangerschap vergroot. Tijdens dit proces, dat meestal \u00e9\u00e9n tot tien dagen duurt, worden hormonen toegediend om de groei van meerdere eicellen te stimuleren. Deze injectie wordt 36 uur v\u00f3\u00f3r de eicelpunctie gegeven. De eicelpunctie vindt plaats onder sedatie in de operatiekamer. Met een speciale naald worden via de vagina de follikels aangeprikt om het vocht met daarin de eicellen op te vangen. In het laboratorium worden de eicellen uit dit vocht gehaald en in een kweekmedium in een incubator geplaatst. Vervolgens plaatsen we in elk druppeltje een eicel. Binnen enkele uren zal \u00e9\u00e9n zaadcel een eicel binnendringen, wat bevruchting heet. Dit gebeurt in een incubator met fysiologische omstandigheden: 37\u00baC, 6% CO2 en 95% luchtvochtigheid. Dit duurt ongeveer een half uur. De embryo\u2019s worden met een fijne canule via de baarmoederhals geplaatst, onder echografische begeleiding, zodat ze op de beste plek terechtkomen.
